Magickal Uses: Healing, Health, Mental Powers, Exorcism, Love Known as the queen of the herbs, rue has many magickal properties. Add drops of the oil or a handful to restore your health. Mix the dried herb in a bowl of spring water and sprinkle around a home to bring peaceful vibrations or remove a jinx. For conquest, charm, attraction and love carry the herb in a red cloth bag next to your heart. Burn dried rue and green candles rubbed with rue oil on a full moon to summon prosperity.

This plant is much more important in magick than in medicine; in Santeria it is placed at the door of the house/business/temple to repel negativity, as this plant is a powerful warrior against conjure and evil spirits. It is a major element on protection mojo bags (dried leaves) and on hex-breaking floor washes (tea).
 
RUE, also known as RUTA or RUDA, is widely held to be a Magical Herb. Many people carry a pinch of RUE in a cloth bag or place it above the front door to ward off the Evil Eye. In Italy it is so highly valued for this purpose that a silver charm called Cimaruta or Sprig of Rue is worn as a protective amulet. Some folks make a tea of RUE and sprinkle it around the home for Protection or bathe in it to break spells. We are told that RUE mixed with Comfrey Root will Improve Health Matters and that RUE burned with Verbena, Mistletoe, and Benzoin can take off jinxes. Rue is also said to aid in Love Matters. Burned with Lavender Flowers and Sandalwood it is thought to be a Lover’s Incense and if placed in a man’s left shoe, it is believed to hold him. When used as a Tea or Incense, Rue can attract a Mate or a Love, and protects against a wrong Choice. It is good for the Stings of Serpents, Scorpions, Spiders, Bees, Hornets and Wasps, the noxious Effects of Cantharides and Salamanders, and the Bites of mad Dogs.
 
Rue is very powerful for curing the Diseases of Cattle. It is an Herb of the Sun, under Leo. Rue is worn as an Amulet to protect against the Evil Eye, Hexes and Hauntings. It is potent in all Forms of Love Enchantment, and is rubbed on the Body, worn, or carried to ward off Sickness and Headache, and also to speed up Recovery from Illnesses or Operations. Rue has been employed as a Hex Breaker, a Curse Lifter, and an Herb of Exorcism. Poisons, Werewolves, and all Negative or Evil Forces are rendered powerless by the protective Magick of Rue. The Herb is also used to stuff Healing Poppets and is added to Health-restoring Incenses. Rue that has been stolen out of a Neighbor’s Garden will grow better than the Rue that has been raised at Home.
