"Dear Seraphine,
When casting a spell that requires focus, is meditation the best practice to increase ones focusing ability? Sorry if it seems weird I'm a young practitioner."
Dear Philomena,
I would definitely agree that meditation is an excellent technique to help you sharpen your focusing ability for spell work.
Along with meditation, you can also practice specific visualization through the aid of guided meditations. Guided meditations give the practitioner a set focus and helps you to hone in on a specific topic by seeing a desired outcome with your mind's eye. This practice will help you see your desired outcome, visualize it unfolding and becoming manifest. Like playing a self-written movie in your head.
Get as creative as possible with your visualization. I guide students during meditations for financial blessings to help them visualize themselves sitting on the ground under a huge tree. Their root chakra is connected to the Earth's core. This keeps them grounded. I have them look upward to the branches of the tree to the leaves. The leaves are money of all denominations - $5's, $10's, $20's, $100's. I guide them to stretch out their arms and focus on receiving the money raining down on them from the tree.
This process helps two-fold:
1. It helps the student to focus on the intent of financial abundance and;
2. It helps them to visualize themselves actually receiving this abundance with no obstacles or blockages.
With the use of guided meditation and visualization, you can more easily remain focused on the intent of your spell work by using your mind's eye to see what you meditated on as you cast your spells. Try it and keep a journal of your results to see if your intentions are manifesting more quickly and with more precision.
Goddess Blessings,
